What's happening in the shops and supermarkets in the town

What are all these flags flying outside shops in the town?

Seems like we've got some really go ahead Fashion shops.

Ulverston is unique because it is NOT full of chain stores. We really need to be sure that this is maintained if we wish to stay unique!

So why don't you recommend a shop and tell us what's special about it! Quit moaning and do something positive!

I enjoy the small shops in town particularly the photography shop in Brogden Street. An exhibition without formality.
However, the sign for the new carpet store offends my eye. Can the store not survive without shouting Cheap Cheap Cheap across the A590? Another offensive sign is Bargain Booze. Supermarkets are not as offensive as some of the smaller shops, they have higher aesthetic standards.
Does the Town Council really support this brash image for Ulverston?

Some shops are fantastically improved...look at the new refurbed St Mary's Hospice Shop on New Market Street. Shows that the local people truly support their local charity. Good luck to everyone there.

Ulverston is a wonderful place to shop, the streets are now bustling with locals and visitors alike, if everybody stayed optimistic and upbeat about the so called 'credit crunch' we will have nothing to worry about. Virtually every shop that comes vacant is filled quickly, only the few with the exorbitant leases remain empty. Look at all our lovely new shops recently, the lovely little lavender shop and the scrumptous deli on Upper Brook Street and the lovely lingerie shop recently opened on King St. If we all support our local retailers these will survive and town will remain a lovely shopping centre.

We need some big stores in ulverston,we were on the verge of having focus which would've been great for the town and most of all create jobs for locals. But spours didn't want this in the town so campaigned against it why??I'll tell you why because there was plans to have an estate agent there as well, which would mean people selling houses there instead of his one bit shop.So instead of thinking about the town he thought about himself.

The best shop in town at the moment is the cheap shop in the old top gear shop cracking little shop and most of all it's cheap. But then you've got people complaining about that haven't you geoff??Like complaining about stock on the pavements and hassleing the staff about it.Yeah thats right i was in the shop when this happened

i agree, the staff in that little shop (top gear) work so hard all day long, 6 days a week. they are happy, smily, and willing to help anyone, i dont think its fair they get shouted at for putting stock on pavements??? after all they are only doing their jobs! well done girls keep it up!
